RFCA for Wales provide Defence with an extensive ‘network of networks’ to enable understanding and collaboration between the military and civil communities in Wales.

Through RFCA for Wales, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Armed Forces community develop strong working relationships with local and national decision makers and influencers.

Community Engagement

RFCA for Wales maintain membership of the Welsh Government’s expert group and the Welsh Assembly cross party group, as well as regional and local government Armed Force Covenant partnership groups.

By hosting and enabling regular events, such as the Cardiff Business Club and the Defence Studies Dining Club, RFCA for Wales provide a link between Defence and the community.

Every year, RFCA for Wales support Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenants of Wales by delivering their annual award ceremonies, which recognise the meritorious service of reserves and cadets within each Lieutenancy.

Our membership includes diverse civil representation drawn from every county in Wales, forming a unique ‘network of networks’ between Defence and the community. Click here to learn about our Members.

Employer Engagement

RFCA for Wales’ Employer Engagement team offer assistance and advice to organisations, companies, reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers relating to Defence People-related employment matters.

They work with the MoD’s Defence Relationship Management (DRM) organisation to establish open and strategic relationships with employers, tailoring partnering opportunities to mutual needs and business goals. Click here to learn more about DRM.

The team is responsible for running the Regional Employer Engagement Group (REEG) for Wales, which forms a key advisory panel of Welsh employers to inform and support employer engagement initiatives on behalf of Defence. Members of the REEG can click here to access the Collaboration Platform.

The Chief Executive and Regional Employer Engagement Director (South) are also members of the MoD’s Regional Employer Engagement Board (REEB), which sets Defence priorities for employer engagement activities in Wales.

Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly.

More than 90 employers in Wales have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. This includes businesses, local authorities, charities and community organisations.

They support past and present service personnel in a variety of ways, such as; discounted services, flexible HR policies for deployment and specially themed projects.
