Members of the Armed Forces community from across North Wales are being encouraged to attend the uniquely themed ‘Forces in Construction’ event.
The event will provide valuable guidance, information and genuine career opportunities for past and present members of the Armed Forces – including; ex-service personnel, reservists, cadets and their families.
It will be held at Coleg Cambria’s Deeside Campus in Flintshire (CH5 4BR) on Wednesday 10 October 2018.
Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Cymru Wales, local authorities, the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) for Wales, Ministry of Defence, Career Transition Partnership (CTP), Coleg Cambria and Kier Construction have developed the event.
Over 30 local, regional and national employers will be in attendance and several education establishments have signed up to support the event to provide information on effective routes into the industry and current regional opportunities.
Attendees will be given the opportunity to talk to employers and training providers in the morning, before industry experts and success stories give a series of presentation in the afternoon.
The construction industry is in Wales is predicted to see the strongest construction growth across the UK in the next five years. CITB research forecasts over 12,000 new roles will be created in Wales alone.
Construction and engineering is a preferred career choice for a large percentage of the Armed Forces during their transition period to civilian life. Former service personnel are often equipped with excellent transferable skills, making them valuable entrants in the construction sector.
