On Friday 14 June, the Defence Electronics & Components Agency (DECA), GAP Personnel, Allan Morris Transport, Jackson Fire, and Sealand Support Services Ltd. were the five North Wales organisations signing the Armed Forces Covenant at a special ceremony facilitated by the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) for Wales.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the UK Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly. The programme in Wales is delivered by the RFCA for Wales Regional Employer Engagement Directors on behalf of Defence Relationship Management (DRM). Over 120 Welsh organisations and employers have already signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

The signing at DECA’s office in Sealand, was coordinated by RFCA for Wales’ North Wales Regional Employer Engagement Director, Tony Fish. He said:

“It was good to see so many people showing their support at the Covenant signings. There was a great mix of small/medium enterprises, larger organisations and recently engaged companies plus fantastic support from the local Reservist Units: 157 (Welsh) Regiment Royal Logistics Corps, and 3rd Battalion (The Royal Welsh).

“Regimental mascots Lance Corporal Shenkin IV and Trooper Jones accompanied uniformed staff and employees from DECA and the other local companies who signed their Armed Forces Covenant pledge on the day.

“The number of engaged organisations lending their support to the Armed Forces across North Wales continues to grow at an encouraging rate, and indicates a positive outlook for the Armed Forces community in Wales.”

RFCA for Wales provides Defence with an extensive ‘network of networks’ to enable understanding and collaboration between the military and civil communities in Wales. There are over 3,000 signatories to the Covenant across the UK, with a growing number of organisations signing up to it every week.

Thousands of supportive employers will be joining in with Armed Forces week (starting 24 June 2019), and many of their employees will be marking Reserves’ Day on 26 June. Click here to find out more.
