RFCA for Wales provide Defence with an extensive ‘network of networks’ to enable understanding and collaboration between the military and civil communities in Wales.
Through RFCA for Wales, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Armed Forces community develop strong working relationships with local and national decision makers and influencers.
RFCA for Wales maintain membership of the Welsh Government’s expert group and the Welsh Assembly cross party group, as well as regional and local government Armed Force Covenant partnership groups.
By hosting and enabling regular events, such as the Cardiff Business Club and the Defence Studies Dining Club, RFCA for Wales provide a link between Defence and the community.
Every year, RFCA for Wales support Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenants of Wales by delivering their annual award ceremonies, which recognise the meritorious service of reserves and cadets within each Lieutenancy.

RFCA for Wales’ Employer Engagement team offer assistance and advice to organisations, companies, reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers relating to Defence People-related employment matters.
They work with the MoD’s Defence Relationship Management (DRM) organisation to establish open and strategic relationships with employers, tailoring partnering opportunities to mutual needs and business goals. Click here to learn more about DRM.
The team is responsible for running the Regional Employer Engagement Group (REEG) for Wales, which forms a key advisory panel of Welsh employers to inform and support employer engagement initiatives on behalf of Defence. Members of the REEG can click here to access the Collaboration Platform.
The Chief Executive and Regional Employer Engagement Director (South) are also members of the MoD’s Regional Employer Engagement Board (REEB), which sets Defence priorities for employer engagement activities in Wales.
Armed Forces Covenant
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly.
More than 250 employers in Wales have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. This includes businesses, local authorities, charities and community organisations.
They support past and present service personnel in a variety of ways, such as; discounted services, flexible HR policies for deployment and specially themed projects.Learn More
Employer Recognition Scheme
The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encourages employers to support Defence and inspire other organisations to do the same.
The scheme encompasses Bronze, Silver and Gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
RFCA for Wales facilitates the presentations of Bronze Awards, jointly organise the annual Silver Awards Ceremony and represent the country at the ERS Gold Awards Ceremony in London.Learn More
