Castell Howell Foods Ltd has joined a network of more than 120 Welsh employers to pledge support to the Armed Forces community.
Michael Davies, Director of the Carmarthenshire-based business, signed the Armed Forces Covenant with Lieutenant Colonel Marcie Madams, Commanding Officer of 157 (Welsh) Regiment Royal Logistic Corps.
Castell Howell Foods Ltd is celebrating its 30th year as an independent food service wholesaler and, through the Armed Forces Covenant, will ensure past and present service personnel and their families receive fair treatment in the workplace.
“We’re extremely proud that Castell Howell Foods have shown special consideration and commitment to the Armed Forces community,” said Audrey Nealon, Regional Employer Engagement Director (REED) at the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (RFCA) for Wales.
“By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, Castell Howell Foods have pledged to make a substantial difference to the lives of many people who have served their country with pride.”
There are more than 2,200 reservists in Wales. They are ordinary people who come from diverse backgrounds and give up their spare time to train and serve alongside regular personnel in the Armed Forces.
Reservists work for employers of all sizes, from transnational companies to smaller social enterprises, and their minimal annual requirement is just under 30 days. In return, reservists receive world-class training to develop new skills and qualifications to boost their civilian lives, as well as pay and expenses.
RFCA for Wales’ Employer Engagement team offer assistance and advice to organisations, companies, Reservists and Cadet Volunteers relating to Defence People-related employment matters.
They work with the MoD’s Defence Relationship Management (DRM) organisation to establish open and strategic relationships with employers, tailoring partnering opportunities to mutual needs and business goals.
