Deeside’s Material Handling company, Hannaman, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant – a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
Hannaman’s support for the Armed Forces is close to the heart of the company; both Managing Director Steve Downey and Operations Director David Brown have extensive Service backgrounds. Signing the Covenant was the perfect way to broadcast their support for the Armed Forces Family, veterans, reservists, spouses and family members cadets, and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.
Hannaman staff were joined by Representatives and assets from 398 Squadron, 157 (Welsh) Regiment Royal Logistics Corps Queensferry along with Lieutenant Colonel Mark Powell, Staff Officer 1 Engagement 160 Brigade who recently co-signed the Covenant on behalf of the Ministry of Defence at a special event.
“Hannaman Material Handling are delighted and very proud to be awarded the military covenant Bronze award.
“The company is very much aligned to assisting service leavers, with the transition into civilian life as 2 of the Directors and one member of staff are ex-Army and fully aware of the difficult path ahead. Hannaman is also committed to providing training to qualifying individuals with a view to make the individuals more employable. Hannaman will also engage with the local military communities and veterans with the aim to championing the forces regionally and nationally.
“Hannaman have now taken steps towards achieving the Silver award by committing more resources and energy to the support of our Reserve forces commitments and our injured veterans.”
Tony Fish, North Wales Regional Employer Engagement Director (REED) for RFCA for Wales was very pleased to have facilitated the event, and said: “We are working closely with Hannaman who have been recently awarded a Bronze Employer Recognition Scheme Award for their support to the Armed Forces Covenant. They are now considering a Silver Award nomination in recognition of their continued support. “
The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) aims to reward those companies, businesses and organisations who go the extra mile to recruit, support and nurture reservists in their employment. Nominations for this year’s ERS Silver Awards closed last week, and nominations for the Gold Award.
