The Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association for Wales have a vacancy for a Head of Estates based at its Head Office in Cardiff, with overall responsibility for the effective delivery of hard FM services to a variety of Reserve and Cadet properties across the country.
They will be responsible to the Chief Executive for providing technical direction, advice and assistance on all matters relating to the estate. This includes managing a dispersed team of estates staff in the Cardiff HQ and one regional office to ensure the effective delivery of Estates Services.
Applicants will be educated to degree level in a building surveying or construction related discipline and will ideally be members of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or the Chartered Institute of Building, or be able to demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate successful managerial experience in middle or senior Estates management positions.
The Post is full-time based on a 42 hour working week and the salary is £39,511 (Crown Servant Band C1). The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Council of RFCA Pension Scheme which operates a Career Average Revalued Earnings Scheme (CARE), which has a personal contribution of 5% of pensionable earnings for Members. Applicants must have a clean driving licence and should live within reasonable commuting distance of the Cardiff office. A significant amount of travel is involved therefore candidates must be prepared to travel and spend nights away from home, for which reasonable expenses are reimbursed. An Association vehicle is provided.
The successful candidate will be entitled to 25-30 days annual leave allowance depending upon previous service with either the Armed Forces or another Government Department in addition to 9 Public and Privilege holidays.
The successful candidate will be required to serve a probationary period of six months and final confirmation of the appointment is dependent upon the satisfactory completion of this probationary period.
The successful candidate will be required to be Security Cleared (SC) and have an Enhanced Disclosure check completed from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
